Jika anda perhatikan baik-baik, maksud dari tugas bagian A adalah anda diminta mencocokkan, jawaban mana yang sesuai untuk masing-masing pertanyaan di atas.
Ada dua kata khusus, yakni request dan offer. Request adalah permintaan dan offer adalah penawaran. Dalam bahasa Inggris, mereka dituliskan sebagai kalimat tanya.
Shall I clear the table?; maksudnya seseorang menawarkan untuk membersihkan meja.
Can I use your phone ? ; seseorang meminta (ijin) untuk menggunakan telepon, dst...dst
anda juga dapat mengatakan “can you leave me alone, now?” ;; artinya anda meminta seseorang untuk meninggalkan anda seorang diri.
Bisa saja kita mengucapkan : “open the door!”, tapi lebih sopan kita mengucapkan :
1.“ could you open the door ?, atau
2. “would you open the window?” atau
3. “will you come to my house?”,
Nah, sekarang, praktekkan..., anda sedang meminta seseorang melakukan apa untuk anda. Mintalah dengan santun. Buatlah dalam bahasa Inggrisnya. Buatlah lima kalimat saja yang berbeda. Buat juga kalimat "respon" nya, sehingga anda akan menjadi lebih handal. Jika anda bersedia berlatih, anda akan “bisa”.
B. Conversation
Untuk point B, anda diminta membuat dialog dalam bahasa Inggris. Di bawah ini adalah salah satu contohnya.

Begitulah cara menolak dalam bahasa Inggris. Perhatikan! Apa unsur kata yang harus ada?
Ya, betul! !
Unsur kata ” thank you”.
Meskipun kita menolak tawaran seseorang, akan lebih santun dengan menambahkan kata “thank you” atau “thank you, but”, sebelum menguraikan alasan penolakan.

Why English ?
Lately, I have had a stranger feeling. Suddenly, I miss English very much. I really don't know what's happened to me.
Actually I've ever joined the english course, but its very long long time ago.
I am a lecturer now. I'm majoring in management science. I like writing. Write anything. Sometime I research something relevant to economics.
Lecturer..., it sounds great. But, the University where I dedicate myself is not a huge or a famous one. University 45 Surabaya. Its name will remind us to the past situasion when Indonesia soldier fighted to be independent nation. Yes, right ! The most special word that we always listen at my University is strugle..strugle and strugle. That's all.
You can imagine this.., University 45 is located at the main street, Mayjend Sungkono, but unfortunately...it's not familiar by people, I mean, not many people know it. Even It doesn't promote itself because of the funding scarcity.
So now, why English is sunddenly interesting for me ? ' cause I've been feeling that I'm on maturity stage in my career, now. I've been feeling that I'm just like an average person. I'm not different anymore from others. I mean, my abilities are the same as others...Yes, I used to be different. I used to be different when it were just a few person that could reach the post graduate sertificate. It was happened in 1999. Now, every person can reach the post graduate sertificate easily.
It drives me to think hard about what activities can make me up, then.
When I opened the website of Ditjen Pendidikan Tinggi, I found that there are many opportunities to be reseachers that their reseach activities would be funded by government. Indonesia government join with foreign one.
so, my mind and my eyes became opened. I said myself. Why don't I try. Why don't I take these opportunities. What will be the first thing I do? I've got it !!!
I think English mastery is the most important capital for me to compete with anyone that choose 'a lecturer or researcher' as profession/job.
Without English, I'm just an average person. But with English, I will have a differentiation.
I wish, some day in the future, I hope, by the next year, people will see my research report or my article will be provided at an international journal. And, I find my name aridha, there...(I need Kelt)
